I picked up the JQ818C for $140 and right after my purchase, I spotted the newer RD881 model on sale for just $90 (normally $160). Naturally, I had to grab that too, just to see which one I liked better for my home theater setup with an Amazon Fire Stick.

First off, let’s talk about the JQ818C. It’s got a solid brightness but, oh man, it’s a bit of a beast – bigger and the fan is kinda loud. The ports are all tucked away in the back, and the controls are on top, which can be a bit of a hassle. The keystone correction? It’s basic. You can tilt the lens to fix a trapezoid shape, but if your sides aren’t parallel, you’re outta luck unless you adjust the projector itself.

Now, onto the RD881. It’s clearly dimmer, but it’s smaller and way quieter. The ports are on the side, making it easier to set up, and it has better keystone correction, so you don’t have to stress about getting it perfectly aligned. Plus, it comes with a nice grey padded carrying case, which is a nice touch.
