When it comes to home projectors, the choice often boils down to two contenders: the Epson Home Cinema 1080 and the Epson Home Cinema 3600e. On one hand, you have the 1080, which boasts a remarkable 3,400 lumens of brightness and a dynamic contrast ratio of 16,000:1, promising vibrant images in a range of lighting conditions. It’s designed for those who crave detailed 1080p visuals and effortless connectivity with its two HDMI ports.

On the other hand, the 3600e presents a different kind of allure. With its impressive contrast ratio of 70,000:1, it promises deeper blacks and enhanced detail in darker scenes, although it sacrifices some brightness with its 2,500 lumens. The 3600e also offers flexibility in screen size and advanced features like keystone correction and lens shift, catering to those who might need a bit more versatility in their setup.

In this comparison, we’ll dive into the strengths and weaknesses of each projector, helping you determine whether the higher brightness and versatility of the 1080 outweigh the superior contrast and features of the 3600e. Let’s see which projector truly stands out in the battle for your home theater experience.

Which to get

Hey everyone.

I'm in the market for a new projector and I'm torn between the Epson Home Cinema 1080 and the Epson Home Cinema 3600e. Both seem solid, but I need help deciding based on picture quality, sound quality, system capabilities, and any potential downsides.

The 1080 is boasting some impressive specs with a stunning 1080p resolution, 3,400 lumens brightness, and a dynamic contrast ratio of up to 16,000:1. Sounds like it could deliver some killer picture quality, especially in darker scenes. Plus, it has two HDMI ports for easy connectivity. But does the built-in speaker hold up, or should I plan on using external sound?

On the flip side, the 3600e has a higher contrast ratio at 70,000:1 and offers a larger screen size range, which is appealing. However, its brightness is lower at 2500 lumens, which makes me wonder how it performs in well-lit rooms.

What do you guys think? Is the extra brightness and 1080p resolution worth it, or does the 3600e's contrast and flexibility make it a better choice? Any downsides I should be aware of for either? Thanks!
