According to The Verge report, Microsoft will officially open the cheap version of the Xbox next-generation console in August this year. The new model will be named Xbox Series S. This is a cheap model that will use the same CPU as the Xbox Series X, faster than the PS5, and supports optical drives. In addition, there is 7.5G of available memory and 4TF GPU.

Microsoft originally planned to release the host code-named "Lockhart" in June. Now the company has postponed the release plan until August, and reports have claimed that this game console will be named Xbox Series S.

Xbox Series S: Will the low-end Xbox game console bring more profits to Microsoft?

For months, Microsoft has been working on launching this relatively low-priced Xbox game console. A Microsoft document leaked last week further explained the company's plans. Microsoft's Xbox Series X Developer Kit, code-named "Dante", allows game developers to enable a special Lockhart mode to adapt to the performance of Microsoft's new game consoles.

The Xbox Series X has 13.5GB of available memory and GPU performance of 12 trillion floating-point operations.

The Lockhart game console will be equipped with 7.5GB of available memory and GPU performance of about 4 trillion floating-point operations.

If the report is true, will the low-end Xbox game console bring more profits to Microsoft? What do you think? Welcome to comment.

I am glad to see the low-end xbox to be released this year. The priced would be cheaper. The more competition, the more be improvement there would be.
