What is the result of Samsung's infringement of TV display rights such as QLED?​


Samsung has agreed to a $150 million agreement to end a lawsuit by Nanoco Technologies Ltd., which says its QLED TVs infringe five of its TV display patents.

Gill confirmed that the settlement ends all global litigation between the two companies, including in China and Germany, and provides Samsung with a global license to use Nanoco's technology.

The dispute dates back to early 2020, when Nanoco launched a federal lawsuit in Texas alleging that Samsung had stolen quantum dot visuals for its QLED TVs based on technology samples provided by Nanoco, which developed its own competing technology. There is no paid license to use Nanoco's technology.

In a press release, Nanoco said it will net more than $90 million from the settlement after paying its litigation costs.
