Unboxing Experience

VIZIO 24-inch D-Series:

The Vizio TV has a straightforward design that is functional, though I wish it included a wall mount. The legs provide adequate support, and overall, the aesthetic is pleasing for a living space, making it suitable for various room styles.

LG 24LQ520S-PU:

The TV has an appealing design that fits seamlessly into my kitchen space. Its size is perfect for the area, making it a practical addition without overwhelming the room's aesthetics.

System Experience

VIZIO 24-inch D-Series:

Setting up the TV was a breeze, taking less than ten minutes to get everything running. However, a new requirement as of June 2024 is the need to create a Vizio account to complete the setup, which I found unnecessary and somewhat cumbersome. While the initial installation was smooth, the additional account step was an unexpected hurdle.

LG 24LQ520S-PU:

I found the setup process to be remarkably straightforward. Despite my limited technical skills, I managed to install it on my own within an hour, which speaks volumes about the user-friendly design of the product.

Viewing Experience

VIZIO 24-inch D-Series:

The viewing experience has been satisfactory for most purposes. However, I encountered issues with the resolution when using it as a computer monitor, leading to blurry text. For regular TV watching, the picture quality is decent, but navigating through the streaming apps can be time-consuming, often requiring multiple steps to reach desired content.

LG 24LQ520S-PU:

Overall, the viewing experience has been quite satisfactory. The picture quality is impressive, with clear images that enhance my viewing pleasure, although I did anticipate sharper picture quality.

Audio Experience

VIZIO 24-inch D-Series:

The sound quality is generally good, and it fills the room adequately without the need for an additional soundbar. For my one-bedroom apartment, the audio is clear and satisfying for both television shows and movies, enhancing the overall viewing experience.

LG 24LQ520S-PU:

The sound quality has been a mixed bag; while some moments have showcased decent audio, I’ve encountered instances where it fell short of expectations, leading to disappointment.

Motion & Gaming

VIZIO 24-inch D-Series:

The TV defaults to "Game" mode every time it is turned on, which becomes a hassle. This setting is not optimal for regular viewing and requires manual adjustment each time, detracting from its appeal for gaming enthusiasts who expect more consistent performance.

LG 24LQ520S-PU:

Although I haven’t specifically tested this TV for gaming, I appreciate the ease of switching channels, which could be beneficial for casual gaming sessions or streaming content seamlessly.

Compatibility

VIZIO 24-inch D-Series:

The smart features of the TV, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. While it does come with some pre-installed apps, the remote struggles to navigate them effectively. I found myself needing to purchase an external device like a Roku to access a wider range of streaming options, which was frustrating given that it was marketed as a smart TV.

LG 24LQ520S-PU:

The availability of LG channels adds an extra layer of enjoyment and convenience, particularly as we transition away from traditional cable TV. It has also provided access to a variety of channels beyond just the basic network options.

Conclusion

VIZIO 24-inch D-Series:

Pros:
• Easy setup process
• Good sound quality
• Adequate picture quality for general use
• Lightweight and easy to handle

Cons:
• New requirement for a Vizio account during setup
• Blurry text when used as a computer monitor
• Slow access to streaming apps, requiring multiple steps
• Default setting issues with Game mode
• Limited smart features without additional devices

Overall Impression:
Overall, the Vizio TV presents a mixed bag of experiences. While it delivers decent picture and sound quality and is easy to set up, it struggles with its smart capabilities and resolution when used for specific applications like gaming or as a computer monitor. The requirement for an external streaming device to fully utilize its potential further dampens the experience, making it a less favorable option for those seeking a true all-in-one smart TV solution.

LG 24LQ520S-PU:

Pros:
• Easy setup process
• Perfect size for kitchen
• Clear picture quality
• Additional LG channels

Cons:
• Sound quality not as expected
• Picture sharpness could be improved

Overall Impression:
In conclusion, this TV has largely met my expectations, especially considering its price and the fact that it’s designed for a specific setting like the kitchen. It serves our needs well, and I appreciate the quality and ease of use it offers, despite a few shortcomings in sound and sharpness.

The VIZIO 24-inch D-Series TV is cool, but the pics show red, yellow, and white inputs for your DVD player, and it doesn't actually have them. You’ll need to grab an adapter for the HDMI port. It’s not a biggie, but kinda annoying if you still use DVDs!
