First Impressions

The ViewSonic PX701-4K is somewhat portable due to its fairly compact and lightweight body, although without an integrated battery. The projector has automatic vertical keystone correction and manual horizontal correction, although it lacks an autofocus. It does have an integrated 10W speaker in case you need to move it.
This DLP projector uses a lamp as its light source, which can last from 6000 to about 20,000 hours, according to the manufacturer, after which youll need to swap the lamp for a new one. Its not a true 4k projector, as it uses pixel shifting to create a higher-resolution image. This offers better quality than a pure 1080p projector but isn't as good as a native 4k projector.

Viewing Experience
Overall, the ViewSonic PX701-4K projector offers a decent average peak brightness, although it struggles with brightness uniformity, particularly at the image's edges. While it provides a good native contrast that enhances dark room viewing, its color performance is somewhat lacking, especially for vibrant hues which appear significantly dimmer than whites. The projector's coverage of the Rec. 709 color space is acceptable for standard content, but it falls short when handling the broader Rec. 2020 color space associated with HDR, resulting in a less dynamic color experience.

System Experience
The ViewSonic PX701-4K is a straightforward projector that prioritizes essential features over smart capabilities. It lacks a built-in smart operating system and casting functionality, which may limit its convenience for some users. However, it compensates with an integrated 10W speaker, providing decent audio output for a more immersive viewing experience. The USB port is designed solely for power delivery, allowing users to connect an external streaming device for added versatility. Overall, the PX701-4K is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable projector without the bells and whistles of smart technology.
