This projector is a game-changer. If you’re still stuck with those 1080p projectors that “upscale” to 4K, let me tell you, stepping into true native 4K is like flipping a switch. The difference in image quality is immediate and absolutely mind-blowing. Watching movies, playing games, you name it—the clarity is on another level. Plus, it pairs perfectly with my PS5, and the HDMI ARC port makes running a soundbar seamless.

Now, of course, no product is without its quirks. My only two complaints are that the brightness isn’t quite as strong as I’d like (but that’s to be expected with an entry-level model), and navigating the menu system can be a bit of a headache. It took me days just to figure out how to turn on the setting that allowed my soundbar to work—had to resort to Reddit for help because the user manual? Complete garbage for that. Once I figured it out, though, it worked fine.

But honestly? The stellar image quality and overall performance make up for these little frustrations. For the price, this is a solid pick, and I’m still thrilled with it.

We are absolutely in love with this projector for both gaming and movies! It’s perfect for everything from family Switch game nights (Super Smash Bros, anyone?) to immersive PS5 sessions where my husband gets totally lost in Elden Ring. He’s especially blown away by how much more detail he can see in the dark scenes—details that get totally lost on a regular monitor. The vibrant colors pop, and there’s no lag, making it a winner for everyone in the family. If you’re a PS5 player, this is a must-have.

Beyond gaming, we love kicking back and watching Netflix and Disney+ together. Setting up the Android TV dongle was a breeze—just 2-3 minutes and we were good to go. The lens adjustment is super intuitive, and the image quality is flawless. Plus, the built-in speaker is crystal clear and loud enough that we don’t even need extra speakers. Honestly, it’s the perfect projector for our needs.

I picked up this 4K short throw projector for my garage/mancave, and it’s been a total game-changer! The garage motor on the ceiling made a standard throw projector impossible, so this short throw was the perfect solution. I’m projecting a stunning 150" image from just 8ft 3in away, and honestly, the picture quality straight out of the box is fantastic. No complicated tweaks needed—just plug it in and enjoy!

This projector excels for both home theater and gaming. It instantly recognized my PS5 and Nintendo Switch once plugged in and automatically adjusted the picture to optimize gameplay. With multiple gaming modes to choose from, it’s easy to fine-tune for whatever you’re playing. Whether it’s action-packed games or racing, it delivers every time.

4K HDR movies look absolutely incredible—I’m loving the crisp, vibrant visuals. Overall, I’m beyond pleased with how the BenQ X500i performs in my home theater setup. The built-in speakers are fine for casual use, but if you’re after that full, immersive experience, I’d definitely recommend connecting it to a dedicated sound system.

I’m seriously impressed with the brightness—it’s phenomenal for the price. For around $1200-1300 on sale, the picture quality is top-notch too. You’re definitely getting a lot of value here.

Unfortunately, the ARC and the "built-in" Android TV dongle (which, to be clear, is actually a separate dongle you need to install behind the faceplate/cover) are an absolute mess. I tried setting it up with multiple soundbars, but kept running into the same frustrating issue. The projector sends a “TV Input” command to the soundbar, which forces it into "TV" (aka ARC), breaking the HDMI handshake with whatever device was plugged in—whether that was the built-in Android TV dongle or an Xbox hooked up to the soundbar. Even when I disabled ARC and CEC on the projector and only used sources plugged directly into the soundbar, the issue persisted. Eventually, I had to remove the Android TV dongle altogether, and once I did that, everything worked perfectly.

Review:
It's small, portable, and perfect for when I’m traveling to visit family or friends. What I really love is that I don’t need a projector screen to get a super crisp, bright picture—whether I’m gaming or watching, I can set it up anywhere. It works great with the lights on or off, which is perfect for my living room setup since we sometimes need the lights on.

Gaming with this little powerhouse has been a total joy. Despite its compact size, the X300G delivers a massive screen that competes with those more expensive projectors—at a fraction of the cost. When friends come over, it's a total game-changer. I can just take down a painting on the wall and have an instant screen (check out the picture!). I was worried about lag, but honestly, I didn’t notice any at all. It’s essentially lag-free in my experience, which is amazing for gaming.

Another perk is the auto-focus feature—I don’t have to waste time adjusting the image, it does all that for me. The projector also comes with game modes for FPS, RPG, and SPG, and automatically detects which console I’m using, so no fiddling with settings. As for the sound, I was shocked by how clear and loud it is, especially for such a small device. Not only did I save on not buying a projector screen, but I also don’t need an external speaker.
