The Plot Against America (2020) is not an allusion to American politics

It is irresponsible to suggest that The Plot Against America (2020) is an allusion to the reality of American politics. The republican party now is not the republican party then, and the Democratic Party now is not the Democratic Party then. Before Kennedy, minorities supported the republican party, which at that time was not at all intolerant of minorities, and even southern Democrats were more anti-semitic. Lindbergh was supported by republicans because of his isolationism, not because of anti-semitism. After Pearl Harbor, isolationism disappeared, and so did Lindbergh in politics.

Anti-semitism has never been the main theme of either party. American jews support both democrats and republicans, and Kennedy probably did most of them before. The novel Plot Against America, which was published in 2004, is primarily anti-fascist, not anti-republican, and not an allusion to American politics at the time. The Plot Against America is wrote by Philip Roth as an alternative history in which Franklin D. Roosevelt is defeated in the presidential election of 1940 by Charles Lindbergh.
