Samsung The Premiere LPU7D Review: Is This Ultra Short Throw Projector Worth Your Investment?

First Impressions

The projector is big and heavy and requires an outlet to function, so it isnt made with portability in mind. It also lacks auto keystone correction, so youll need to adjust the screen geometry manually, and it doesnt have autofocus. It has an integrated 30W 2.2 channel speaker system, so you wont need to worry about connecting it to a soundbar if you move it.
The Samsung Premiere 7 uses a laser light source, which requires no maintenance and will last for 20,000 hours or more. This means you likely wont ever have to worry about replacing its light source. Its an Ultra Short Throw (UST) projector, capable of projecting an image on a 90-inch screen at a distance of 9.7 inches up to a 120-inch screen at a distance of 16.3 inches. The projector doesnt do true 4k as it uses pixel shifting to create a higher resolution image. This offers better quality than 1080p but doesnt look as good as native 4k.

Viewing Experience
The projector offers good brightness uniformity but falls short in overall brightness, making it suitable only for dark room settings. Its contrast is acceptable, though blacks lack depth, which may not be a concern in dim environments. While it has a wide color gamut that nearly covers the Rec. 709 color space for SDR content, its performance diminishes with the wider Rec. 2020 color space. Overall, the projector is best suited for users who prioritize performance in low-light conditions.

• Exceptional picture quality with vibrant and crisp colors
• Compact design allows for easy movement between rooms
• Impressive audio quality, creating a theater-like experience
• Good performance in various lighting conditions, including daytime
• All-in-one functionality without the need for extra devices or messy cables

Cons
• High price point compared to comparable models without significant advantages
• Issues with stuck pixels reported after limited usage
• Keystone adjustment can be complicated and cumbersome
• Requires considerable distance from the wall for larger screen sizes, not truly "ultra" short throw

Overall Impression
The Samsung LPU9D projector delivers stunning image quality and impressive audio performance, making it an excellent choice for home entertainment. However, its high price point and issues with setup and pixel reliability may lead potential buyers to consider more affordable alternatives. While it excels in many areas, the projector's drawbacks, particularly in keystone adjustments and durability, could impact long-term satisfaction.
