The production time of LG display Guangzhou OLED TV panel factory, which was originally planned to be mass produced in October last year, has been postponed again and is expected to be mass produced in the third quarter of this year.

LG display Guangzhou 8.5 generation OLED panel factory announced in 2017 that it was jointly constructed by LG display and related enterprises in Guangzhou Development Zone with an investment of about 4.2 billion US dollars. LG display holds 70% of the shares. It is planned to mass produce in October 2019, with an initial production capacity of 60000 pieces of glass substrates per month and an increase to 90000 pieces in 2021. However, due to technical reasons, the mass production time of LG display was later postponed to the end of January 2020, nearly a quarter later than originally expected. Affected by the epidemic, the factory's mass production was again delayed to the early second quarter of this year.

There are three main reasons for the postponement of mass production to the third quarter: first, the problem of good product rate still exists; second, the isolation during the epidemic, which delayed the progress of the project; third, the reduction of market demand, LG display is not eager to promote the rapid mass production of this factory.

Previously, WitsView released its forecast of global TV shipments this year. It predicted that Samsung's QLED TV will achieve the expected shipment of more than 8 million units, while LG's main OLED TV will only have more than 3 million units and QLED TV will win a complete victory in the high-end TV market.

In fact, in 2019, Samsung's QLED TV has been significantly ahead of the OLED TV promoted by LG. In this year, the shipment volume of QLED TV reached 5.83 million, and the shipment volume of OLED TV was 3.23 million, with more than 80% more QLED TV than OLED TV.

OLED TV is actually ahead of QLED TV in technology. OLED TV is a self luminous technology, with higher contrast, lighter and thinner, flexible and other characteristics; QLED TV is improved on the basis of the original LCD TV, and it still uses backlight technology, but it has a wider color range than LCD TV, and the light emitted is closer to the natural light, although the thickness is thinner than LCD, but it is much thicker than OLED, and it is not flexible. However, OLED TV has been faced with a technical problem that cannot be solved, that is, the problem of screen burning. This is because the life of OLED TV's blue pixels is relatively short, and the life of the TV is often as long as ten years, especially the impact of the problem of screen burning.

I don't care who win or lose as long as they can produce more good tvs with more affordable prices.
