Netflix is launching a short video feature similar to TikTok for children, that is, using short videos to promote children's movies and programs to attract more young people.
The feature called Kids Clips will be launched on Netflix's iOS terminal, showing Netflix's existing children's programs and short films in the movie library. This move is also intended to snatch short video users from YouTube and TikTok.
Netflix plans to release this feature in the United States, Canada, Australia and other countries, and plans to limit children to only 10 to 20 such clips at a time. The Kids Clips test is based on the previous "Fast Laughs", which featured short comedy videos.
Technology and social media companies have been vying to attract the attention of young consumers, launching new apps and projects specifically for children. In 2015, YouTube launched "YouTube for Kids"; Facebook also tried to launch a children's version of Instagram. However, legislators and parents have repeatedly questioned the safety of children and young users of these social media and video platforms.
