Outside of the two feet instead of a central stand, the B4 has a very similar look as last yearsLG B3 OLED. Its a thin TV with a silver frame and thin black bezels. It looks elegant and modern overall. The LG B4 OLED has a dark gray metal back panel that feels almost like fabric, with a matching dark gray plastic central panel that houses the inputs. Some of the inputs face the side and are close enough to the edge of the TV that they are accessible when its wall-mounted, but the back-facing inputs are nearly impossible to reach if you have the TV mounted to the wall. If you use a mount like LGs Slim Wall Mount that mounts the TV very close to the wall, the backports are unusable unless you use a 90-degree HDMI adapter. Since one of those back-facing HDMI ports is the eARC port, this really limits you if you want to wall-mount the TV with a soundbar plugged in.
Although the B4s two feet arent quite as premium as the stand included with LGs C Series lineup, they do the trick and still look good. There are no quality control issues with the TV, and its built solidly.

System Experience | The LG B4 OLED TV offers a user-friendly experience with its fast and intuitive webOS interface, which includes customizable user profiles. However, it is marred by a couple of notable bugs related to the Game Optimizer settings, leading to issues such as being locked out of certain picture modes and brief flashing upon activation. While the Home Settings menu allows users to minimize banner ads on the home screen, ads on the apps page remain unavoidable. On the positive side, the TV provides a robust selection of apps and supports content casting from mobile devices and USB playback, enhancing its versatility for content consumption. Overall, the product has significant strengths in usability and content accessibility but is hindered by software bugs that detract from the overall experience. |

Viewing Experience | The LG B4 OLED TV impresses with its remarkable contrast and nearly infinite contrast ratio, thanks to its self-lit pixels that deliver bright highlights alongside deep inky blacks, making it particularly well-suited for dark room viewing. It excels in black uniformity with no blooming or halo effects, providing a superior visual experience. The TV's excellent gray uniformity and wide viewing angles further enhance its performance, although a noticeable green tint appears when viewed off-center. While the TV boasts an excellent color gamut and good coverage of the Rec. 2020 color space, there are significant issues with color accuracy and saturation across both the DCI-P3 and Rec. 2020 spaces, particularly with greens and cyans. The reflection handling is commendable, effectively minimizing glare from direct and indirect light. However, the WOLED panel's subpixel layout slightly affects text clarity, particularly on Windows, which may be a consideration for some users. Overall, the LG B4 OLED TV stands out for its contrast and black levels but falls short in color accuracy. |

Audio Experience | Overall Impression: The LG B4 offers a balanced sound profile with clear dialogue, making it suitable for regular viewing. However, the lack of bass and noticeable distortion at high volumes may limit its performance for more immersive audio experiences. While it can achieve loud volumes, the presence of compression and artifacts detracts from audio quality, particularly at maximum levels. |

Motion Smoothing | The LG B4 delivers solid performance in content smoothing, effectively preserving details and reducing artifacts, although some macro-blocking can be observed in darker scenes. Its nearly instantaneous response time results in clear motion with minimal blur, particularly at higher refresh rates, though there is some persistence blur at 60Hz. The TV's lack of traditional backlighting and the absence of pulse-width modulation (PWM) mean it doesn't achieve complete flicker-free operation, but the slight brightness dip linked to the refresh rate is generally unnoticeable for most users. The optional motion interpolation feature enhances motion in slower scenes, but can create noticeable haloing and artifacts during fast-moving action when overused. Overall, the LG B4 offers a strong visual experience with a few caveats regarding motion handling and dark scene performance. |

Connecting TV | The LG B4 OLED delivers an outstanding gaming experience with its remarkably low input lag, particularly when utilizing the Game Optimizer feature. The responsive performance ensures minimal delay between user inputs and on-screen actions, enhancing gameplay fluidity. Its compatibility with next-gen gaming features, such as 1440p at 120Hz and 4K at 120Hz, alongside HDMI Forum VRR, positions it as an excellent choice for gamers. The full support of HDMI 2.1 bandwidth across all four ports allows users to connect multiple high-bandwidth devices seamlessly. Additionally, the TV's support for various audio formats, including DTS, enriches the viewing experience for movie enthusiasts. Overall, the LG B4 OLED stands out for its gaming capabilities and versatile multimedia support. |
User Feedback
This was my first oled, and I just have to say wow. I know it’s entry level, but that is what I was looking for. I was blown away by the deep blacks, contrast, and sharpness. The game mode is also perfect forMy gaming needs. It takes me back to the plasma days. Which I always miss. I don’t miss the screen blooming from the led I had. Everything looked washed out on that. But this tv is incredible. For the price? It’s perfection.
So far all is working. Remote is good. Hope it will last us years to come. Only time will tell.
This TV is special. In fact, every OLED tv that I’ve come across is special in that the black levels are so incredibly inky-black and this LG B4 is no different. The model letter denotes the level of TV (higher the better, generally) and the number is the year, so this would be 2024’s model. I can directly compare this to the C4 and I’ll say the picture quality is slightly less distinct but it’s still amazing. It’s a lot brighter than my B8 that I had for over 5 years, one that didn’t have any burn in but it did have some dead pixels around the outside edge. They updated the software for a long time and still update the apps, which gives me a lot of confidence in this TV’s longevity. Some other TV’s don’t update apps to keep them running smoothly for as long (looking at you Sony) but the OS is amazing. The web browser is outstanding and it blocks a good number of ads that pop up natively. There is so much to love about this TV if you can find it for a good value.
What I love:
120 Hz native refresh panel that appears to go to 144 for variable refresh. This is outstanding for gaming
Input lag is RIDICULOUSLY low (again, great for gaming)
Beautiful picture out of the box, pretty calibrated
Lots of options for picture quality, including an AI option to adjust it based on some pictures you like. Cool setup
The Operating System (OS). So easy to use, laid out smartly, so many options for entertainment whether it’s LG channels to watch tons of content or use the included web browser for a LOT more options.
So many options to adjust the picture. Lots of control and advanced options.
The magic remote pointer is so helpful and great to use.
Setup was a snap, super easy and I’m getting used to it a lot more than some other brands.
Color…this TV has some amazing color and the picture pops. It’s beautiful, simply beautiful and I enjoy watching tv just to see how great it looks. It’s spoiled me when watching in other places, however.
2.1 HDMI ports, all 4 are that new standard and can do 4K at 60Hz. Awesome value
Things I’m not sure about:
The stand is made of 2 parts and it’s seemingly got some options regarding how it’s set up (but I mounted mine).
You used to be able to bring up an app menu while still watching content. Now you have to go to the Home Screen. A minor annoyance.
Things I do not like:
The new remote doesn’t stand up like the old one. I LOVED that. It took up a lot less space but I get why they did it.
They removed the play and pause buttons from the remote and it’s just got the wheel to pause and play. I get why they did it but I preferred a pause/play button.
2 out of the 4 HDMI ports are on the back. This is fine for putting the TV on the stand but it’s an awful design for mounting it on the wall. The C4 does not have this issue as all 4 are on the side.
This is a great quality TV, it’s got good sound, seamless wifi, and all of the above.
Overall, I think this is an amazing TV and it’s their new “entry level” OLED but it’s nowhere near an entry level TV. It’s absolutely amazing if you like deep blacks, the lack of blooming, saving some electricity (individual pixels turn off to make black, unlike traditional or QLED TV’s), love variable refresh rates, low lag for gaming, and want a beautifully operational OS, this is an excellent choice. The B4 and C4 (and even the B8 for that matter) are gorgeous and I’ll never go back to non-OLED if I can ever avoid it. Highly recommend, 9.5 out of 10.
