UNISOC unveiled its groundbreaking M6780 ultra-high-definition smart display chip platform at MWC Shanghai. This chip platform supports 8K decoding and HDR full formats and boasts highly integrated AI capabilities with a CPU, GPU, NPU, VDSP, and ADSP.
In terms of specific configurations, the UNISOC M6780 integrates Arm Cortex-A762 + Arm Cortex-A552 and is equipped with an Arm Mali-G57 4 cores GPU. It supports mainstream decoding protocols such as H.264, H.265, VP9, AV1, and AVS.
The M6780 chip platform from UNISOC supports major formats like Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. It incorporates AI-SR super-resolution technology, AI-PQ intelligent image enhancement, and MEMC dynamic compensation technology.
UNISOC's AI-SR (Super Resolution) algorithm module claims to restore low-resolution images to detailed high-definition images by supplementing the required details and textures through millions of deep learning training iterations. The M6780 supports 36x pixel enlargement and can reportedly upscale a 720p image to an 8K ultra-high-definition picture.
M6780 also features AI-PQ (Picture Quality), which intelligently recognizes various scene images and adjusts brightness, saturation, sharpness, and contrast frame by frame, aiming to achieve more realistic picture effects.
Equipped with a frame rate conversion module based on MEMC (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation) technology, the M6780 includes functions such as Cadence detection, Logo detection, motion estimation, motion compensation, and halo elimination. It aims to deliver smoothly transitioning image sequences, effectively eliminating screen jitter, motion blur, and trailing effects.
In terms of sound quality, UNISOC has developed a complete audio quality enhancement solution, ranging from audio coding and decoding to playback sound effect processing. It includes AI-AQ, sound field calibration, Dolby Atmos, and more. The chip supports intelligent sound effect tuning technology based on the played content and adaptive calibration technology for sound field adjustment.
The M6780 chip from UNISOC incorporates the self-developed AI-AQ algorithm, which perceives the audio content being played using AI technology and intelligently adjusts the EQ parameters for a more tailored equalization effect based on different scene recognition results.
In terms of interaction, the UNISOC M6780 enables intelligent interaction with users through AI-Voice, AI gesture recognition, AI human keypoint recognition, AI-protected viewer identification, and AI scene recognition functionalities.
In the gaming aspect, the UNISOC M6780 supports HDMI 2.1, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) technologies, which makes us anticipate the release of new televisions equipped with this chip.
As the UNISOC M6780 chip makes its debut, it brings forth a new era of AI-enhanced 8K smart displays, promising immersive visual experiences, superior image quality, and intelligent interactions. Stay tuned for upcoming products featuring this innovative chip.
