The first Frozen was such an iconic movie in so many ways. The story, the music, the social progress. It said much about how far society and Hollywood have come. I have nieces that are obsessed with it without ever seeing the movie, and it will be around and appreciated for decades to come.
Frozen II doesn't get average reviews because it is awful - it isn't. It just never gets close to the high bar that the original Frozen movie set, and has no redeeming features that will see it lasting the distance.
Yes, the kidlets will love it. But nobody is going to go and buy the soundtrack to Frozen II. The first movie songs will continue to be played till it's stuck in your head. The II story is nothing special. It is a sequel for the sake of a sequel, not because it adds anything to the Frozen universe. It's the sales pitch to flog 10 or 20 million Frozen toys pre-Christmas 2019 and not a whole lot more.
