While we all look forward to the release of the Xbox Series X , the 1st Party games that will accompany it should be shown during the Inside Xbox scheduled for July. Among these titles, a certain Forza Motorsport 8 could show the tip of his nose.
The game of Turn 10 had a hard time convincing the public on its last episodes and the "Motorsport" franchise was stolen from the limelight by the more accessible games of Playground Games; whose last opus Forza Horizon 4 was released in October 2018.
A 3-year break to come back stronger
Accompanying the release of Xbox One X at the end of 2017, Forza Motorsport 7 was even the first game available in 4K and 60 fps on Microsoft's powerful machine. This unfortunately did not prevent him from disappointing a large part of the players who, beyond the technique, especially wanted the franchise to return to its origins.
It is therefore now 3 years that we have not been entitled to a new installment of Forza Motorsport and if we have little information about it, we still know that Turn 10 is working hard on the 8th installment with the biggest team the studio has known.
We learned last April that the game would have used photogrammetry for a photorealistic rendering and today new elements concerning, potentially, its career mode, reach us.
Towards a career mode scripted with cutscenes?
When fans are asked what they would like to see happen in the next episode of Forza Motorsport, many respond that the competition and sporting aspects are too far behind and do not maintain the interest of the player on the duration.
This lack could be filled in the next opus since we discover through resetera that Joseph Rubino worked for 2 years on a project "New generation Forza" as "Cinematics director".
The man is known to have been director of photography at Rockstar on games like GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 and also Cinematic Art Director on Assassin's Creed Odyssey before joining Microsoft in 2018. Suffice to say that this is probably not not the kind of person you hire for a few seconds here and there. In the last video available on his Vimeo account, deleted since, we could see him in a motion capture studio working on a scene including a sports car. He has since joined the Obsidian studio as indicated in his Linkedin profile , but the mentions “Narrative Leadership Team” and “Narrative Desiign” are indeed present under the tab dedicated to the “Forza project”.
If these few leaks are to be taken with tweezers, we can very well assume that Forza Motorsport 8 is entitled to a career mode scripted as we can have for example in Fifa or, closer to the subject, the F1 series. The latter immerses the player in a career as a young pilot before climbing the ladder and cutscenes reinforce the immersion in addition to the feeling of progression.
It will not be necessary any longer to wait very long anyway to find out, Forza Motorsport has always been a technological showcase and it would not be surprising to see it accompany the release of the Xbox Series X. If we do not worry for him on the side of his plastic, it is on other criteria that he is expected at the turn. Seeing land a scripted career mode like those available in the first 3 Toca Race Drivers, is really enough to tantalize us!
