Conclusion

Epson EpiqVision LS800

This projector truly stands out, offering an array of impressive features. It delivers rich colors and has a unique app that compensates for wall irregularities, which is incredibly useful if you lack a proper screen. The contrast between the blacks and whites is striking, and its performance during gaming is seamless, handling fast-paced action without any lag. It's definitely a model I would recommend for anyone looking for top-notch visual performance.

The picture quality is exceptional, particularly when used with a UST ALR screen. The colors are vivid, motion is smooth, and the overall clarity is a significant step up from typical 4K projectors. Despite its remarkable display, the decision to return it was tough, mainly due to the intrusive fan noise, which proved to be a dealbreaker for me.

One practical issue is the projector's substantial size, which posed a challenge in finding an appropriately sized surface on which to place it. This was further complicated by the low ceiling height in the intended room, adding to the difficulty of positioning it optimally. This factor is worth considering if space constraints or specific setup requirements are a concern.

Epson EpiqVision LS650

The concept of a 120-inch television without the hassle of moving such a massive screen is truly intriguing, and this projector delivers that experience. While the unit is somewhat bulky, it's surprisingly portable, and one person can manage to move it without too much trouble. The high-quality construction inside justifies its size, though.

When it comes to picture quality, it’s impressive. The sharpness and resolution on the wall are outstanding, rivaling high-definition TVs. Even without a dedicated backdrop, the image still maintains a crispness that most standard TVs struggle to match. It’s a clear indication that projector technology is advancing rapidly, especially at more accessible price points.

However, the performance of this projector falls short in one critical area: reliability. While the picture is impressive, it struggles with continuous playback. Despite the initial wow factor, it can’t manage to run an entire movie without buffering or constant stops, seemingly due to overheating. For a product in this price range, it’s a significant flaw, especially if you're looking for a seamless viewing experience. It's unfortunate, as this could have been a great solution for a larger-than-life TV experience.

Epson EpiqVision LS500

The sheer size of the screen isn’t the only impressive aspect of this projector; the vivid colors, sharp details, and incredible contrast make the viewing experience stand out. The image feels dynamic, almost as if the content is leaping off the screen. Unlike traditional TVs where the light is emitted in a more directional fashion, the projector projects light onto the wall, which creates a wider field of view and enhances the overall immersion.

Setting up the projector isn’t as simple as placing a TV in your living room, but the unique experience is worth the extra effort. The ultra-short throw feature is a game-changer. To achieve a full 120-inch image, the projector needs to be positioned a little further from the wall than anticipated, which may require a rethinking of the room’s layout.

However, the tradeoff is a significant advantage: the short throw eliminates the problem of someone walking in front of the projection, a common issue with traditional long-throw projectors. With this setup, the projector can sit at the front of the room, ensuring an uninterrupted viewing experience.

Epson EpiqVision LS300

The picture quality is excellent, providing a sharp and vibrant viewing experience. Setup and usage are straightforward, making it easy to get started. With access to Google Play and apps, it offers plenty of flexibility for entertainment.

In terms of noise, when running at 100% brightness, the fan is loud, as expected from projectors on high output. However, when the brightness is reduced, the noise levels drop significantly, and with a subwoofer in play, the sound from the projector becomes barely noticeable.

The Nvidia Shield-based remote is a highlight, working seamlessly with the system. The interface for features like keystone correction is intuitive and easy to use, making it stand out from other projectors that may require more complicated setups.
