The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 kicked off in grand style from January 7th to 10th in Las Vegas, USA. Known as the "Spring Festival Gala of Technology," CES is the world's largest, most authoritative, and influential tech event, serving as a barometer for global technological innovation and the consumer electronics industry. TVs and projectors, being pivotal consumer electronics, remain the focal point of competition among major manufacturers each year. This year, display giants like Samsung, LG, Hisense, and TCL have once again unveiled a plethora of new TV and projector models.

Hisense: 116-inch World's Largest RGB-Mini LED TV, 136-inch MicroLED TV, and 4K Laser TV L9Q TriChroma

At this year's CES, Hisense, under the theme "AI Your Life," showcased a systematic display of AI innovations across various scenarios, including display technology, smart homes, and smart cities. The standout was the RGB three-dimensional color control LCD technology, which breaks through the industry's challenge of simultaneous light and color control. Hisense also unveiled the world's first and largest 116-inch RGB-Mini LED TV utilizing this technology.

Leveraging years of deep expertise in AI picture quality chips, Hisense's RGB three-dimensional color control LCD technology marks a significant leap from traditional black-and-white backlighting to RGB multi-primary color backlighting, evolving from single light control to simultaneous light and color control. This innovation delivers more realistic and delicate colors, richer and clearer details, and a generational leap in energy efficiency, opening new horizons for the global LCD display industry.

Unlike WOLED or QD-OLED, which require secondary color conversion, Hisense's RGB-Mini LED employs RGB primary color sources with partitioned light and color control. This allows independent control of RGB light sources to produce the desired brightness and a vast color spectrum without secondary conversion, truly achieving "trillions of colors from three primaries." Additionally, the RGB three-dimensional color control LCD technology enhances two-dimensional (spatial) brightness control with chromaticity control, marking a significant technological upgrade.

At CES, Hisense's 116-inch RGB-Mini LED TV, the world's largest and first to feature RGB three-dimensional color control LCD technology, made its debut, surpassing QD-OLED in color performance and earning Pantone color certification. Slated for mass production in March, this TV signifies the market debut of Hisense's RGB three-dimensional color control LCD technology.

The key breakthrough in Hisense's RGB three-dimensional color control LCD technology lies in its robust independent chip R&D capabilities. The RGB-Mini LED TV is powered by Hisense's self-developed next-generation Xinxin AI picture quality chip, the world's first RGB simultaneous light and color control chip, overcoming the industry's long-standing challenge. This chip redefines the color management system, enabling precise control from AI scene analysis to adaptive light control and high-precision color management.

Moreover, the Hisense RGB-Mini LED TV boasts an 87% color volume, with high color purity reaching 99%/92%/100%, and a light source color control precision of 3*26bits, setting a new benchmark. Compared to QD-OLED and traditional MiniLED TVs, it achieves over 20% energy savings.

Hisense also showcased its first consumer-grade MicroLED TV, the Hisense 136MX. Featuring a 136-inch display with over 24.88 million micro LEDs, this TV is powered by Hisense's flagship Hi-View AI Engine X chipset, offering a stunning 10,000 nits peak brightness and 95% BT.2020 color gamut, with ultra-high dynamic contrast for deep blacks and exceptional clarity. It supports a 120Hz frame rate, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR 10+, and Filmmaker Mode, with audio support for Dolby Atmos and MVR Virtual X.

Laser TVs were not left out, with Hisense unveiling the new-generation 4K Laser TV — L9Q TriChroma. An upgrade from the L9, the L9Q increases the projection size from 120 inches to 150 inches, offering five size options: 100, 110, 120, 136, and 150 inches. Utilizing Hisense's proprietary TriChroma three-color laser engine, it delivers 5,000 lumens brightness (significantly higher than the L9's 3,000 lumens), 110% BT.2020 color gamut, and a 5000:1 contrast ratio. This laser TV features a 6.2.2 surround sound system with 10 speakers (116W power) and a 15° tilt design inspired by Roman amphitheaters, creating an immersive sound field experience with Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual X, and eARC.

Continental Showcases Window Projection Display Solution at CES for the First Time

This system includes a high-performance mini projector, a side window that can be fully electrically dimmed to act as a projection surface, and intelligent software. The projector, responsible for projecting content onto the side window, is incredibly compact, requiring less than half a liter of installation space. Its small size allows easy integration into the roof lining. Continental states that its engineers are working on additional measures to make future generations of the system even more compact.

The intelligent projection screen handles optical output, displaying content on the vehicle's rear side glass with extremely high resolution, leaving a lasting impression. When the system is activated, the window fully dims electrically to ensure excellent image display. When the vehicle is parked, it can directly communicate with the surrounding environment and display important information, such as the charging level of an electric vehicle or the logo of the user's favorite sports team. Display content can be easily personalized.
Zeloa1736495980.jpg

The Travel Assistant (eTravel.companion) is integrated into the window projection display solution as a software component. This AI-based travel assistant uses various data, such as driving habits, geographical location, weather, and additional information from vehicle sensors, to create a new user experience. To develop this software, Continental partnered with platform provider banbutsu, whose digital ecosystem provides access to highly personalized and context-based content. Based on existing data, AI-learned preferences, and the current situation, the software generates suggested display content in real-time, which can be shown on the vehicle's rear window before the user gets in.

For example, the vehicle can determine if the driver is heading to a stadium to watch their favorite team play. The intelligent software will then suggest displaying the team's logo and other custom settings on the side window. The solution can also show the vehicle's battery level and route information. Thus, drivers receive interesting, personalized, and helpful suggestions, such as knowing where to charge along the way before even getting in the car.

The system also offers a new user experience by providing customized content recommendations and easily integrating new partners and their content, making it both personalized and relevant.
