BenQ X1300i Projector Review: Affordable True 4K Gaming Experience for Your Setup?

First Impressions

The design of the projector is a standout feature for me, especially compared to the traditional rectangular models that dominate the market. It has a sleek and modern aesthetic that not only looks good in my home setup but also feels like a premium product. The build quality is decent, although my experience with some components has raised concerns about durability. Overall, I appreciate the effort BenQ put into making this projector visually appealing while still functional.

Viewing Experience
The viewing experience is where this projector truly shines. The picture quality is impressive, especially on my 120" screen, making both gaming and movie-watching a delight. The colors are vibrant, and I noticed minimal lag, which is crucial for gaming. However, I did find that the brightness is best appreciated in darker rooms, as it tends to lose some of its punch in well-lit environments. The sound quality, while slightly above average, prompted me to invest in a soundbar for a better audio experience.

System Experience
Setting up the BenQ X1300i was relatively straightforward, but I did encounter a hiccup when I had to return it for updated firmware. Once I got past that, the projector was easy to connect to my devices, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it came with a streaming stick. The process of controlling the projector via voice commands with Alexa was a bit complex but ultimately rewarding, as I was able to customize the routines to make using it more convenient.

User Feedback

Pros:
• Excellent picture quality with vibrant colors
• Low input lag, making it ideal for gaming
• Sleek and modern design
• Comes with a streaming stick for easy access to content

Cons:
• Weak built-in speakers
• Issues with the Android TV functionality, such as app force closures
• Some build quality concerns, particularly with the audio jack
• Requires additional devices for Netflix viewing

Overall Impression:
Overall, the BenQ X1300i is a solid projector that excels in delivering a great visual experience, particularly for gamers. Despite some issues with build quality and software bugs, I still find value in the image quality and features it offers. For anyone looking for a budget-friendly option that caters to both gaming and family movie nights, I would recommend this projector—just be prepared to address some of the quirks that come with it.

This thing is awesome! The clarity is spot on. If this one looks this good, I’m thinking about getting a fancier model. Gaming and movies run smoothly with zero lag!

The picture looks awesome and it's super bright! But heads up, the Android TV doesn't work with Netflix, so you'll need another device to stream it. Also, the built-in speaker isn't that great.
